Architecture & design
Working across scales and disciplines to connect an architectural idea to the many decisions that make it real.

Making room for what's next.
I'm Ali Tehami. I work where architecture, computational design and the realities of making buildings meet.
ExploreBased in Melbourne, my work has moved between Australia and the Middle East, from large architectural teams to building GIRIH X, a studio focused on digital approaches to the built environment.
My experience includes Woods Bagot, teaching and mentoring, and working with collaborators across design, engineering and construction. I'm interested in tools that make ambitious ideas more buildable without losing what makes them human.
Working across scales and disciplines to connect an architectural idea to the many decisions that make it real.
Developing digital workflows that help teams explore complexity, coordinate constraints and work with greater clarity.
Sharing methods, mentoring emerging designers and keeping the conversation between practice and learning open.
At Woods Bagot, I co-developed the Tehami-Spadaccino Façade Automation Workflow with the project team for Melbourne Connect. The work helped translate a complex façade design into a coordinated, buildable system.
On the future of architecture
Computational design is often an unseen craft. You may never notice the workflow behind a building, but you feel its effects in the light, comfort and spaces it makes possible.
For me, its promise is to connect ambition with performance, budget, engineering, construction and the skill of the people who build. Automation can make those relationships more intelligent, while leaving space for judgment and creativity.
That is the lens I bring to AI, fabrication and digital systems: not technology for its own sake, but better ways to shape the built environment together.
My curiosity doesn't stop at buildings. I enjoy making small digital things too, including websites for friends. This is a space for those experiments and for writing as ideas take shape.
